Education. Research. Resources.
For leaders
of the Catholic Church.
Although the Church is not a business, good stewardship of Church
resources requires an understanding and application of sound business
practices. Villanova University's School of Business is uniquely
positioned to become a "first mover" in the study and application
of sound business methods to Church decision making through the
establishment of its Center for the Study of Church Management.
Over the past 30 years, we have seen tremendous changes in the
landscape of Catholic Church staffing and management. Clergy members
and laypeople seeking to serve their churches effectively now face
increasingly challenging and complex business, legal, and financial
issues. These church leaders are serving their communities tirelessly,
and, simultaneously address these issues—often without the benefit
of formal business training.
We have created the Center for the Study of Church Management
to provide such training—along with important research on pertinent
issues—in support of Catholic Church leaders and their communities
throughout the United States. Through the center’s work, we also
seek to analyze and provide policy solutions to the practical management
issues faced by the Catholic Church today. To do so, we are partnering
with Catholic Church and corporate leaders, scholars at Villanova
University, and scholars at other institutions.
The Center allows you to:
- Keep up with the challenges of today’s business and legal environment as
they impact the church
- Learn to be a better steward of church resources
- Gather with peers in a collaborative environment
- Get the specialized business education you need
